Skyceil Translucent Backlit
Backlit Translucent Stretch Ceilings

What it is
Translucent stretch ceilings bring light exactly where it is needed. The membrane diffuses the LEDs behind it, so instead of a row of bright points you see one calm, glowing surface.
They work as a feature panel above a dining table or reception desk, as continuous light lines in corridors, or as a full ceiling in meeting rooms and lobbies. With dimmable drivers, brightness can be adjusted to suit the time of day.

Design possibilities
Ways to use this ceiling. Ask us to show samples before you decide.
Feature panels
A single backlit rectangle, circle or free form set into a conventional ceiling.
Light lines
Narrow backlit strips that run along corridors, staircases and across walls.
Full ceilings
Wall-to-wall translucent ceilings divided by slim profiles for large rooms.
Printed backlit
Combine translucency with a printed image that glows when lit.
Material and finish options
- Translucent white
- Translucent with printed design
- Choice of light colour temperature (warm, neutral or cool white)
Lighting compatibility
LED modules or strips are fixed above the membrane at a distance chosen for even diffusion. Warm, neutral, cool and tunable white options are available; dimming depends on the driver selected.

Benefits
- Even, glare-free light without visible fittings
- A clean architectural look that works in homes and offices
- Brightness can be adjusted with a dimmable driver
- Panels can be sized and shaped to the room
Things to consider
- A backlit ceiling needs cavity depth above the membrane for the LEDs — we confirm the minimum on site.
- Light uniformity depends on LED spacing and distance; we plan the layout before fabrication.
- Access to drivers should be planned for future servicing.
Installation
- 1Site survey to measure the area and check slab, cavity depth and existing wiring.
- 2Perimeter profiles and LED layout are fixed and tested before the membrane goes in.
- 3The membrane is fabricated to your measurements, then stretched and locked into the profiles.
Care and maintenance
- Dust the surface gently with a soft, dry microfibre cloth.
- Avoid sharp tools, abrasive cleaners and solvents on the membrane.
- LED or driver servicing is planned through access points agreed during design.

Questions about translucent backlit
Can a backlit panel be added to my existing ceiling?
Often, yes. A backlit panel can be set into an existing POP or gypsum ceiling if there is enough depth above it for the LEDs. We check this during the site visit.
Will I see the individual LEDs?
Not when the layout is planned correctly. LED spacing and the distance between lights and membrane are chosen so the light spreads evenly across the surface.
Can I choose warm or cool light?
Yes. Warm, neutral and cool white LEDs are available, and tunable white lets you switch between them. Tell us how you use the room and we will suggest an option.
How is the price worked out?
Area, shape, LED type, driver and controls all affect the cost. Share your room size and photos for a written quotation.
