Lift lobby with linear light lines running across ceiling and walls

A stretch ceiling can do more than hold a light fitting — it can become the light. Here are the main approaches and where each works best.

Backlit panels

LEDs behind a translucent membrane create a soft, even glow. Panels can be any shape and work beautifully over dining tables, meeting tables and reception counters.

Light lines

Narrow backlit or recessed linear lights draw clean lines across a ceiling and can continue down walls. They suit corridors, staircases and lift lobbies.

Cove and edge lighting

Indirect light around the perimeter of a gloss or printed ceiling adds depth and is gentle enough for bedrooms and living rooms.

Colour and scenes

RGB or RGBW LEDs allow colour changes and scenes for events, entertainment rooms and kids' spaces. Choose a controller that suits how you want to operate it.

Stars

Fibre-optic points in a dark membrane create a night sky for bedrooms and home theatres.

Planning tips

  • Combine feature lighting with practical general lighting.
  • Choose colour temperature by use: warm for living spaces, neutral for work areas.
  • Plan where drivers and controllers will sit so they can be serviced.
